Like a Moth to the Quietly Flickering Narcissism Flame

Are you dealing with a secret, covert, or introverted Narcissist?

We all know that particular someone who enters the room and makes a spectacle of themselves. You know, the one who laughs a little too loud, the one who makes loud exclamations and draws attention to how fabulous, funny, or intelligent they are? That person!

Some would describe them as bold people, party animals even. Perhaps they’re just a show-off, the kind some of us avoid but that some are attracted to. But, like a moth to the flame for some of us, it won’t take long before we get burnt by that sparkling personality. That’s when the reality dawns on us. The person we thought we knew — and all that. Most of us enter this stage in denial. We don’t really want to think the person we love or like (or whatever else) could possibly be a Narcissist. In fact, it’s impossible, right?

Still, we begin our research which usually starts with looking at personality traits. And then we discover our inklings just might be right…we’re dealing with a certain type of a person; a Narcissist. How do we know when someone is a Narcissist, especially a secret Narcissist who doesn’t follow the usual pattern of Narcissism? I am talking about covert and introverted Narcissists.
